Lorna Allan, Artist
Lorna has for many years enjoyed the work of the Hudson River School of Artists painting in the US from about 1825 to 1875. Some of these artists traveled across country to follow there artistic vision and through many of their works of the west they were credited with the movement of early settlers crossing the country to settle the west. Lorna was greatly influenced by some of these and in particular Albert Beirstadt, Thomas Cole, Thomas Moran and Fredric Edwin Church.
She was also inspired by Pietrus Van der Valden a Dutch painter working in the Otira area in New Zealand in the mid 1800's
On her journeys to the US Lorna has been able to view some of the finest works by both Bierstdat and Moran.
